Diet Trends and Bone Health

Trendy diets come and go. So has another year; another decade. Is this the year you have vowed to better your orthopedic and general health? If so, you’ll want to read this.

Most diets do help you lose weight. Some diets can even better your bone health and inflammation. But, some diet trends can cause more damage even if they help you lose weight.

Arthritis.org is a good resource on how to eat right for your type of arthritis. https://www.arthritis.org/living-with-arthritis/arthritis-diet/anti-inflammatory/eat-to-beat-inflammation.php. It says: “Although there is no magic potion … studies have shown that certain foods have anti-inflammatory properties and specific benefits for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other inflammatory forms of arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout and osteoporosis symptoms.”

For RA, is recommended that a diet should be rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. These foods include a diet of fish, olive oil, fruits, vegetables, nuts/seeds and beans. This diet can supply the body with powerful anti-inflammatory nutrients.

Other medical studies suggest that some people with RA may benefit from a vegetarian diet. And, green tea has been proven to significantly reducedthe severity of arthritis by causing changes in various immune responses.

Having a smart, healing and nutritious diet is an important part of maintaining a healthy weight. It’s also healthy for your bones and joints. So skip the fad diet and try on something proven to help bone health for your new size!
